Overhaul imminent

Hello to those who may stumble warily unto this interblog,

There's a large portfolio update on its way. It's full of delicious creature goodness. Should be kinda neat.

Happy holidays,

Hyperdontius

The demon that haunted my teeth. I don't have hyperdontia, but after failed braces and terrible hygiene all throughout my academic career, I finally have a set of chompers that are straight and healthy. To celebrate my last Invisalign set, I drew this demon out of me. Meet Hyperdontius.

Now brush yo goddamn teeth!

The Dragon

The family GMC suburban has been with us since 1994, through thick and thin, carrying everything from cats to 14 people at once. It's been in all weather, eaten by dogs, in accidents, broken down, and had McDonald's pies thrown at its butt. It's been host to an entourage of art students singing along with Journey on its shitty radio. It's flown over 210,000 miles and will keep flying until the day it dies, and its funeral will be one last drive into a volcano so that it may return from whence it came. It is nicknamed 'the Dragon.'

It may look like a car, but this is what it feels like.

24-hour comic - Night's Dream of the 15th

Holy late night delirium, Batman!

The 24-hour comic event was insane. Haven't stayed awake for that long in a while- it was an oddly familiar feeling. I decided to draw upon a dream from last year that was extremely vivid and even more strange. As far as comics go, this is a disaster - inconsistent, rough, and no real characterization. More than anything I wanted to test the waters and see if these fingers could even create a whole comic.

So without further ado, here it is. (the title is merely a joke. You can try to pronounce it if you so desire)

Warming up

For the first time ever, I'm participating in 24-hour comics this year thanks to my friend K. Silver. I've never honestly made a comic.. If I get stuck, there are some cabinet ideas which are way too grandiose BUT would be fun to splurtch on paper. One such idea includes this poor girl.

She's not in pain... ON THE OUTSIDE *angstangstangst*

I don't know which design to choose. Or maybe she's ALL OF THEM? or none of the above holy shit didn't see that one coming did yuh

Ah erm.

Driving Peeps to Jimmy John's isn't what you think...

You fine audience at home are over-due for a photo session with your neighborhood Kez.

Hallelujah!

Look carefully and you'll see this Dragonfly is munching on a crunchy lunch bunch.

I want to know what the heck this thing is.

Frog!

This gentleman stopped by at the end of a walk and stayed still for his high school senior photos.

Unf just look at those joints. Look at them.

And last but not least, meet Peeps.

Peeps clung to my car like it was a Christmas puppy. Check out his glory. And fuzz. Apparently he has fuzz.
Gaze upon the sass. He's even got a hand on his hip. Sheesh!

I tried knocking Peeps off but he would not budge, soooo I drove off in search of lunch. Peeps clung on and braced himself for hyperspeeds and let me tell you, it genuinely looked like this guy was enjoying himself. He even poked into the side view mirror to assess the local living quarters. Alas, when I pulled into the Jimmy John's drive-through he bustled with joy and hopped off.

In summary, I gave a leaf-footed bug a ride to JJ's.

More photos soon. Take care,
-Kez

I ship it

Hah, get it? Shipping? Space ships..? Just laugh, it makes sense.

Here are several concepts for an alien space-faring vessel. The project, unfortunately, was torn from its creators, and we needed to stop production. At any rate, here's some of those sketches.

Mostly human-run ships:

The Big Cheese Alien Carrier silhouettes:

If you can't already tell, I'm a sucker for negative space in spaceship design. It rustles my jimmies in such a good way, even though it's probably not the most efficient feature engineering-wise.. Unless you've got an enormous radioactive gun that needs to be kept far from the ship's bathrooms lest they end up with rabid toilet-rats again for the sixth freakin' time, sheesh Thomas, can't you flush for goodness' sake, we're all gonna DIE.

Anyway.

They liked this design, #5, so I began rolling with it. Sadly, that's when the project ended. Maybe someday I can continue working on these and properly finish what was started.

Cheers,

When in Rome

..do as the Romans do, yes?

Or.. wait... that has nothing to do with this.

Currently on a roadtrip through Savannah, GA, visiting SCAD with my friend Katie. Next stop will be Frederick, MD.

GenCon was absolutely eye-opening and amazing, by the way. You viewers at home may not understand how refreshing it is to be around artists again, after being cooped up for so long. This move to Austin, TX can't come soon enough. Shiza!

Cheers humans,

Things to come

So much has happened recently, especially this week with the coming of GenCon. I'll post my convention takeaways after this weekend is up. For now, enjoy a sneak preview of something cooking in the Photoshop oven...

Take care,
-Kez
